Joint Support

Joint Health Vital to Ensure Comfortable Exercise and Daily Activities

Essentially, a joint is any location where bone is connected to bone. Some joints are weight-bearing, such as hips and knees. Some are highly mobile, such as fingers, wrists, shoulders, and ankles. Some joints, like the spinal vertebrae, permit limited movement. Others aren’t usually thought of as joints—for instance, skull sutures.

When we think of joint health, most often we’re thinking of the joints that are, or ought to be, highly mobile and flexible. In these joints, bones are held together by ligaments, and the connection between bones is cushioned by cartilage and lubricating synovial fluid. When in good working order, knees, elbows, knuckles, hips and all other movement-oriented joints are able to allow healthy range of motion and comfortable daily activity from walking to weight lifting. Ultimately, it is this motion that helps keep the entire body healthy.

Joint Health Supplements

Unfortunately, more than 20 million Americans deal with joint health challenges that affect their quality of life. As our population ages, this number will grow even larger. Thankfully, there are ways to successfully maintain joint health and smooth range of motion. Appropriate exercise, healthy weight management, and supplementation with specific joint health nutrients can all promote overall joint health and function.*

Most consumers, even outside the natural product industry, are well aware of the benefits of glucosamine and chondroitin sulfate for promoting ongoing cartilage maintenance and overall joint health. Additionally, hyaluronic acid has gained more support for its use in helping to maintain healthy joint structure and lubricity. Taken orally, hyaluronic acid is absorbed into the blood stream in small amounts and appears to trigger an anti-inflammatory response that can help restore joint comfort. Its precise mechanism of action has yet to be proven.*

MSM (Methylsulfonylmethane) is another joint health building block receiving more attention. A source of organic sulfur, MSM may help supply bioavailable sulfur that is integral for creating and maintaining the structure of healthy cartilage.*

Supplementing with essential joint nutrients can help support the body’s natural systems for maintaining healthy shock-absorbing cartilage and synovial fluid. This is vital for promoting healthy range of motion in the midst of the normal daily wear and tear that occurs in hard-working joints.

Recommended Ingredients

Wilke Resources’ Glucosamine HCl (D-Glucosamine Hydrochloride) is 99 percent + pure and is single-sourced from only one manufacturer. Our source is GMP certified, and the product is made to USP specifications. The bright white color and larger crystal size attests to its quality and purity. As an ingredient, it is highly stable, and is readily absorbed by the body.  Glucosamine is a natural, fundamental building block in the body’s production of various joint components necessary for healthy joint function.  Wilke also offers Glucosamine Sulfate (2KCl) from the same manufacturing source.*

Sioux Pharm in Sioux Center, IA produces Chondropure® Chondroitin Sulfate. This Chondroitin product is derived solely from USDA-inspected, certified BSE-free bovine sources in the United States. It is available in USP Grade—USP standard is a higher purity by about 5 percentage points, when compared to Sigma standard. Sioux Pharm maintains a Drug Master File (DMF) with the FDA on Chondropure® which is also self-affirmed GRAS. The combination of Glucosamine and Chondroitin Sulfate dominates the joint health supplement market.

Wilke Resources’ Hyaluronic Acid / Sodium Hyaluronate is single-sourced directly from the manufacturer and is available in both high molecular weight (1.0-1.2 million Da) and low molecular weight (<40,000 Da) versions. It is non-GMO and made by microbial fermentation.

Wilke Resources’ MSM (Methylsulfonylmethane) is also single-sourced and is a high purity (99.9%), white crystalline powder. MSM is a naturally-occurring nutrient found in small amounts in many foods. As a dietary supplement, MSM is synthetically produced. When manufactured correctly, it is identical to that found in nature.
