D-Mannose
D-Mannose is a naturally occurring carbohydrate sugar that, when taken in sufficiently high doses (1.5 to 2.0 grams four times per day), spills into the urine and has a natural ability to bind to the surface of E. coli bacteria. In fact, it binds to the same sites that the E. coli would normally use to bind to human cell walls. D-Mannose, thus, has the unique ability to support bladder health by binding with any E. coli that find their way into the urinary tract before they can attach to human tissue. The unattached E. coli is then flushed from the bladder and urinary tract during urination.*
